I saw this idea on Pinterest and decided to give it a whirl. Luckily it wasn't a Pinterest fail!
This was super easy because my husband helped me and because of one super secret time saving thing we did. What did we do? Shhhhh... we bought precooked, peeled hard boiled eggs. So no boiling eggs, and no peeling!
To make them we just followed our favorite deviled egg recipe. The only added extra step is dying the eggs.
To dye the eggs, we put a half cup of water in 4 small bowls, and 3 drops of food coloring. The water looked dark but the eggs still come out a nice pastel color!
We let each of the eggs sit in the water for about 20 seconds and then took them out and set them on a paper towel to let the excess dye drip off.
Make sure to flip the egg over so that the both sides dry off. It only takes about 30 seconds for the eggs to dry and be ready for filling.
My husband, made the filling and put it into a piping bag. He then piped the filling into the colored eggs. It's easy and gives a nice finished look, but if you don't feel like piping, you can just spoon the filling into the eggs.
Our pretty finished eggs!
I put them on an oval platter for serving because I thought it looked like a giant Easter egg!
Happy Easter!
