A Valentine's Day Proposal

I received a special request for red engagement ring tags a few weeks ago. The woman who made the request, told me her son was proposing to his girlfriend on Valentine's Day and she was planning a Valentine's themed celebration for friends and family to celebrate after the proposal. So fun, and I'm happy my tags will be a part of their celebration tomorrow!

Red ring drink tags are now available in the shop! It's hard to believe that I didn't already offer them in red... Red is color of LOVE!

Happy Valentine's Day Weekend!

A Few Good Men... for Valentine's Day!

I am giving these GORGEOUS cookies to my sister for Valentine's day! (And I might have also gotten some for myself) These chocolate covered Oreos from Sweet & Saucy are almost too pretty to eat! But I did eat them... and they were delicious!

Quite the line up!

Ryan Gosling is my favorite :)

Hope you have a sweet Valentine's Day!

Cake Pops for Valentine's Day

I have wanted to try making cake pops for awhile now... but it seemed a little intimidating. I decided for my first attempt at making them... I would try a kit. I found this one from Sweet Lauren Cakes and it had everything ready to go, you just have to add the wet ingredients!

They turned out great... still a lot of work... but they turned out great! It would have been even more work if I had to pull the ingredients together and find all of the supplies (sticks, cello bags, ribbon, ect).

The kit has everything you need to make super cute cake pops... you just need to add the wet ingredients.

Adorable sprinkles!

After you bake the cake  you break it apart into crumbs (seems so wrong, but it's fun to destroy the cake).

You then add the icing to the crumbs, mix it up and form it into cake balls. just like making meat balls, only way less disgusting.

I had wondered how they got the cake balls to stay on the stick... turns out you dip the stick in the melted chocolate, then stick it into the cake and let it harden before you dip the entire cake pop in.

The kit comes with cello bags and pre-cut ribbon so that you can package your sweet masterpieces! Perfect for passing out to your Valentines!

PB&J Cupcakes 4 JT

When I first started dating JT, I had just moved to the big (and very expensive) city. My paycheck covered my bills and left room for nothing else. So I had to be creative and resourceful when it came time to holidays. Looking back at the gifts I have given him, I realize now that those early gifts I gave him, when I didn't have any money to just go out and buy him something- those gifts really were the best. Now, with all of our new expenses that we have taken on for our our upcoming wedding, I didn't feel right about spending a bunch of money to proclaim my love to him this year. It was time to get creative again...

I decided to bake him something. He loves peanut butter so I decided to make Peanut Butter & Jelly cupcakes for him. He loved them and he was totally surprised because we said were ignoring Valentine's Day this year.

I made a peanut butter frosting.

and tinted it pink with food coloring.

I cored the center of the cupcake filled it with strawberry jelly and put the piece I removed back to cover the jelly before frosting them.

I cut strawberries to look like hearts to decorate the tops of the cupcakes.

Strawberry cake, filled with strawberry jelly and topped with peanut butter - butter cream frosting. YUM.

I hope you had a great Valentine's Day!

Take A Moment Tuesday; Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! Loving the card my fiance made for me. Handmade cards are the bestest and so is he!

Our engagement party is this weekend. I wanted to add some sparkle to my outfit I plan to wear. I found these pieces from one of my favorite shops, ban.do.

Blinged out headband!

Happy Valentine's Day!

A Chocolaty Cocktail For Valentine's Day

I was sipping on this Heart Shaped Box of Chocolates Martini last night. Chocolate is a weakness of mine!

I skewered a dome shaped chocolate upside down on the bottom (as my anchor) and then put 2 chocolate hearts on the top.

Godiva Chocolate Liqueur makes it yum!

Cheers! xo Lizzie

Anniversary Macarons And A Vintage Postcard

JT and I are celebrating our 4th anniversary this weekend...

I much prefer a box of macarons over a box of chocolates!

Yum!

Vintage Niagara Falls Postcard, for JT.

I can't believe it's been 4 years, I feel like it was just yesterday that I met him!

The Best Valentine's Day Gift I Ever Got...

February 2003, I was living in Cincinnati, Ohio. I got a call from my mama who lives in Lewiston, NY, she told me I had a Valentine's Day gift waiting for me at the downtown Cincinnati Williams-Sonoma store. I got excited and during my drive to the store I wondered what it was. I thought maybe it was some fun cookie cutters to play with, maybe colorful sprinkles or a great cake plate. I walked into the store and the lady that worked there got so excited about giving me my gift, and she went on and on about how awesome & funny my mom was on the phone. She brought out this HUGE box wrapped in Williams-Sonoma wrapping paper and handed it to me. It startled me how heavy the gift was! It definitely was not cookie cutters!

I got home and ripped the paper off my gift to find a KitchenAid mixer... A PINK ONE! I was ecstatic- it was amazing! It was on that day that I finally understood why men get so freaking excited over power tools! I love my mixer, and I love my mom! Best. Valentine's Day. Gift. Ever.

I broke out the mixer today to whip up some strawberry cupcakes and remembered the day I got it and wanted to share...

My mixer makes awesome cupcakes... it makes awesome everything actually! xo Lizzie

The Pretty Woman; A Champagne With Strawberries Cocktail

Jeff and I are enjoying this cocktail to celebrate our 4th anniversary together. I named it Pretty Woman because strawberries and champagne remind me of the movie Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts and it is an awfully pretty drink!

This cocktail has just three ingredients; strawberry brandy, vodka, and champagne!

My local liquor store didn't have strawberry brandy so I made my own!

I rimmed the glass with pink edible glitter hearts.

"  I appreciate this whole seduction thing you've got going on here, but let me give you a tip: I'm a sure thing!" Julia Roberts, Pretty Woman.

Cheers to JT & EL! xo Lizzie
