PB&J Cupcakes 4 JT

When I first started dating JT, I had just moved to the big (and very expensive) city. My paycheck covered my bills and left room for nothing else. So I had to be creative and resourceful when it came time to holidays. Looking back at the gifts I have given him, I realize now that those early gifts I gave him, when I didn't have any money to just go out and buy him something- those gifts really were the best. Now, with all of our new expenses that we have taken on for our our upcoming wedding, I didn't feel right about spending a bunch of money to proclaim my love to him this year. It was time to get creative again...

I decided to bake him something. He loves peanut butter so I decided to make Peanut Butter & Jelly cupcakes for him. He loved them and he was totally surprised because we said were ignoring Valentine's Day this year.

I made a peanut butter frosting.

and tinted it pink with food coloring.

I cored the center of the cupcake filled it with strawberry jelly and put the piece I removed back to cover the jelly before frosting them.

I cut strawberries to look like hearts to decorate the tops of the cupcakes.

Strawberry cake, filled with strawberry jelly and topped with peanut butter - butter cream frosting. YUM.

I hope you had a great Valentine's Day!

Blind You With My Love

I put this gift together for my best friend Jenn. I wanted to mail her some sunshine to brighten her day so I filled a box with fun yellow gifts!

JT saw what I was putting together and decided to literally blind her- with bright flashing lights! He made this for her (built the whole device) to add to the box! Yeah... he's awesome! I love that it's personalized :)

I was so excited to get this in the mail and wait for her reaction!
Love you Jenn! Miss you!

Glitter Fringe Banner Tutorial

I have had so many requests for glitter fringe banners in the past few days after the two banners I made were featured in two different Etsy emails. But I do not want to be in the glitter banner business! I had really only wanted to use up what I had bought to make banners for my own wedding. They are incredibly cheap to make, but very time consuming. Not to mention the mess - my dining room floor was a gorgeous glittery mess!

For those of you who are crafty, I wanted to share with you the tutorial that helped me create the banners I wanted for my wedding, so that you can make your own.

A few things to note where I differed from the tutorial: The fringe trim I use is 4 inch chainette, I used bakers twine to string the banner and also instead of regular Mod Podge to adhere the glitter I used one that had sparkles in it to amp up the sparkle.
